Estancia Tecka was founded in 1910, when the first Merino sheep arrived from Australia and the land was put to work.
The Ochoa family has run the ranch since 1968. The trout were brought by English workers not long after, taking to the rivers as if they’d always been there — but it wasn’t until 2001 that fly fishing became part of what the ranch offered, opening over 100 miles of private water that had, until then, only ever been fished by the people who worked the land.
Three chapters, one piece of land: wool since 1910, the Ochoa family since 1968, and the river since 2001.
Since 1910, Estancia Tecka has evolved without ever losing its identity. First came Merino sheep and wool, then the Ochoa family, and finally a fly fishing program that opened more than 100 miles of private Patagonian water—each chapter adding to the legacy of a single extraordinary ranch.
